In 1966, two hiking enthusiasts founded a small mountaineering retail store in the heart of San Francisco's North Beach. The Company soon became known as The North Face, a retailer of high-performance climbing and backpacking equipment.

Of course, I couldn't afford anything back then from Twenty Two or Viva Diva, but these two stores definitely up the hip factor in Rockridge. Unfortunately, I don't visit Rockridge often enough and this is the first time I've even seen these two gems. I wouldn't make a special trip to come here with all the great shops in the City, Columbia Sierra Powder 2 Boots but would definitely stop by if I was in the neighborhood.
